Estimate Payment Processing Fees

Calculate fees from an amount charged or work backwards from the amount you want to receive.

Calculation mode

Preset numbers are editable examples only. They are not universal provider rates. Verify the current fees for your country, account, payment method, card type, and provider terms. The fixed fee is interpreted in the currency selected above.

How the payment fee calculator works

Choose a currency, enter an amount, and provide a percentage fee plus any fixed fee. You can estimate the net amount left after fees or calculate the amount to charge to receive a chosen net amount.

The Stripe example and PayPal example are editable numeric starting points, not official universal rates. Provider fees vary by country, account, payment method, card type, currency, and current provider rules. Always verify the fees that apply to your transaction.

Calculate fees from an amount charged

Use Net from charge mode when you know the customer-facing charge. The calculator separates the percentage fee and fixed fee, adds them together, and subtracts the total fee from the amount charged.

Calculate how much to charge to receive a target amount

Use Charge for target net mode when you know how much you want to receive after fees. The calculator works backwards so that subtracting the estimated percentage and fixed fees leaves the target net amount.

Example calculation

If an amount charged is 100.00, the percentage fee is 2.9%, and the fixed fee is 0.30, the percentage fee is 2.90, the total estimated fee is 3.20, and the estimated net received is 96.80. This is a formula example only, not a statement of the fee that applies to any particular provider account.

Formulas

Total fee: Amount charged × (percentage fee ÷ 100) + fixed fee.

Net received: Amount charged − total fee.

Amount to charge for a target net: (Target net + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − percentage fee ÷ 100).

Effective fee percentage: Total fee ÷ amount charged × 100.

FAQ

Are the Stripe and PayPal presets official universal rates?

No. They are editable examples. Replace them with the current percentage and fixed fee shown for your provider account and transaction type.

Why can provider fees differ from the preset?

Pricing can vary by country, account agreement, payment method, card type, domestic or international status, currency conversion, and other provider rules.

Why must the percentage fee be below 100%?

A percentage of 100% or more leaves no usable denominator for the target-net calculation and cannot produce a meaningful amount to charge.

Does the calculator include taxes, refunds, disputes, or currency conversion fees?

No. It calculates only the percentage and fixed values entered. Add any other applicable costs manually or use the provider's current pricing information.
